Here is another paper I found in my old college notes from my freshman year at LCU, from the same teacher. This was another lesson in the order of words and how important that is when writing a paper.
I think these came from some local classifieds.
Misplaced Modifiers:
Found: Mandolin by young man in good condition except for loose peg in head.
whereas it should read:
Found: Mandolin in good condition except for loose peg in head.
Wanted: Unfurnished room by elderly lady with gas connections
Lost: Picture of chorus girl with expensive frame.
Found: Can by man with marble top
For Sale: Vacuum cleaner by young lady with complete set of attachments
Lost: Cocker Spaniel, will eat anything and especially fond of children
For Sale: Wrist watch by lady with slightly cracked face.
Found: Small table by lady with mahogany legs.
For Sale: Folding bed by lady that shuts up and looks like a piano.
Wanted: An airy room for a gentleman 22 feet long and 10 feet wide.
